Initially the phrase “above the fold” was used to describe the upper half section of a newspaper’s front page. But in internet world it is used to describe the visible part of a web page in a browser. That means it is that portion of web page which the user can view without scrolling down. On the other hand, the portion of a page which requires scrolling to see is known “as below the fold”.
