Fitra, is a compulsory charity paid by every Muslim to the poor at the end of Ramadan. Under the Islamic Shariah every family is bound to Fitra. Those who decline to pay it will observe an incomplete Eid.

On May 16, 2019 the Islamic Foundation called a meeting to fix the minimum and maximum amount of Fitra for Eid-ul-Fitr 2019. The meeting was chaired by chaired by Hafez Maulana Mohammad Mizanur Rahman, senior Pesh Imam of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque and president of the National Fitra Fixing Committee.

In the meeting it was amicably decided that this year the minimum Fitra will be Tk. 70.00 per person whereas the maximum Fitra wil be Tk. 1,980.00.

Customarily the rate for Fitra per person can be based on one of the prices of flour, dates, raisin, cheese, or barley. The other options are barley, raisin, dates or cheese.
