Fitra (also known as Zakat al-fitr or fitran) is a customarily donated by the Muslims at the end of Ramadan. It is a compulsory charity donation. As per the Islamic Shariah, the rate for Fitra per person can be based on one of the prices of flour, dates, raisin, cheese, or barley.

In the year 2018 the rate of Fitra in Bangladesh has been set at minimum Tk. 70.00 and maximum Tk. 2,310.00 per person this taking into account the market prices of flour, dates and other daily essentials. Fitra can be given in the following manner:
  • 1.65 kgs of flour, with a market value of Tk. 70.00 can be given to the needy. 
  • 3.3kgs of barley with a market value of Tk. 1,320.00, 3.3 kgs raisin with a value of Tk. 1,320.00, 3.3 kgs of dates with a value of Tk. 1,980.00, or 3.3 kgs of cheese with a value of Tk. 2,310.00. 
The aforementioned Fitra rate has been fixed by Islamic Foundation at a meeting chaired by Maulana Mohammad Mizanur Rahman, senior Pesh Imam of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque and president of the National Fitra Fixing Committee, on May 30, 2018.
