Living without a fridge is unthinkable these days. I use the fridge to retain the freshness of different food products. But not everything should be refrigerated since it may create health hazards.

10 things you should never store in the fridge! Find out why

Whether it’s winter or summer, we can’t go for a moment without a fridge. Living without a fridge is absurd in any way. Many of us maintain that it is better to keep everything in the fridge. And so many times we load the fridge without understanding the characteristics of the stored item. But did you know that the consequences can be devastating? This would make the fridge essentially unhealthy. Now take a look at some items that are not suitable to store in the fridge:

1/10 – Potatoes

Potatoes lose flavor if they are refrigerated. Moreover, the sugars in potatoes increase rapidly. As a result, never keep potatoes in the fridge. To keep the potatoes fresh, they must have to be kept in a paper packet at room temperature.

2/10 – Honey

Honey simply gets frozen if you store it in the fridge. It also assumes a 'crystallized' look. As a result, the quality of honey is lost. If you want to keep honey well, keep it in a glass bottle at room temperature. In this way, honey remains fresh and retains its natural quality for a long time.

3/10 - Watermelon

Usually, watermelons do not remain good in the fridge. When refrigerated, watermelons lose taste and color due to the chilling injury. Bacteria are also born as a consequence of the chilling injury. Eating watermelon is unhealthy in this condition and there will be a huge risk of indigestion.

4/10 - Bread

When the cold bread is taken out at a normal temperature, it starts to dry out very quickly. As a result, the bread crumbles.

5/10- Coffee

Coffee loses in its aroma very quickly when stored in the fridge. Even the smell of all the other products in the fridge also fuses into the coffee. Even excessively cold temperature can dampen coffee.

6/10 - Banana

This fruit is not appropriate for refrigeration. When the banana is stored in the fridge, it loses its maturity, and on the other hand, its natural qualities are lost. The banana itself is a cold fruit so the potassium content in bananas is reduced when kept in extra cold temperature.

7/10 - Onion

Onion becomes soft in colder weather. The smell of other things also picks up the onion very quickly. So it is better to keep onion at normal temperature. However, chopped onion can be refrigerated for one day if needed. But onion pastes can be stored up to 4 days when stored in an airtight box.

8/10 - Olive oil

It freezes when kept in the fridge. This causes a chemical reaction in the olive oil, which is harmful to the human body.

9/10 - Tomatoes

Tomatoes lose their natural quality due to extreme cold. At the same time ‘fungal infection’ occurs. So eating that tomato in such state could be harmful to the body.

10/10 - Garlic

It is unhealthy to keep whole garlic in the fridge. Garlic cloves dry up in extreme coldness. Resultantly, the inner juice dries up. Whole garlic can be refrigerated for a maximum of 2 to 3 hours. However, garlic paste can be stored in the fridge for 10 to 15 days.

It is very important to keep the temperature inside the fridge right. Set the thermostat regulator properly and keep the temperature between 36-40 degrees Fahrenheit. This does not spoil the food quality. And the food will stay good for a long time.
